Level 3 - Extending Plain Methods

Ring a method where a place is not made at the lead end, call a touch and understand how methods are constructed.

Practical Targets

The ringing needs to be Plain Bob Minor or higher, but not tenors to odd bell methods.

Ring Treble Bob Hunting

See method information for ringing Treble Bob Hunting.

Call a touch of Plain Bob

See Notes on Conducting.

Ring a plain course of a method with work at the half lead (e.g. Little Bob or Reverse Bob).

See method information for ringing Little Bob and Reverse Bob.
Double Bob complies with the requirement and is easier than either of Reverse or Little.

Ring a QP in a different plain method, not Plain Bob on any number. In the log book, the record further states that there shall not be a place made at the Lead End.

What the requirement means is "not a 2nds place method".
We fail to see the value of this extra condition at this point, especially as the practical targets jump from a plain course of Little Bob to a quarter peal of Reverse Bob with nothing in between.
See Level 3 Quarters

NB. We understand that the requirement has been changed to drop the condition of it being a sixth place method.

Level 3 - Extending Plain Methods -

Place Notation

Wrong, Home, Make the Bob, In, Out

See glossary information at Wrong, Home , Make the Bob , In , and Out.

However, we think that what was intended is that learners should be able to understand the impact of calls in Plain Bob Minor, in which case the method information at Touches of Plain Bob Minor will be more useful.
