Quality Hotel (Royal Station Hotel) 13:30 - 15:30 Fairtrade Celebration including cofee tea and chocolate tasting to celebrate 10 years of the Fairtrade Label.

Beverley holds an initial meeting to start the Fairtrade Town Project.
If you would like more information, contact the Hull Project Office and we will put you in touch.
The meeting held on 22 March was well organised, supported by the Mayor of Beverley and his wife, as well as about 30 residents of Beverley. We in Hull wish them well with their project.

The First Fairtrade Forum run by the project is a great success generating many new ideas for growing Fair Trade in the city. The event was enjoyed by all who came, and extended the network of Fairtrade activists.

Queens Hall, Methodist Central Hall, Hull. Admission Free.
Clothes from India from Bishopston and Traidcraft.
Glorious West African clothes from Sierra Leone.
Fairtrade Refreshments served.
Models by courtesy of "Children's Theatre".
Many came and joined the fun, and a discussion on how to support Sierra Leone was held.

5th July 2004 - Hornsea Fairtrade Town
Hornsea launches a project to become a FAIRTRADE Town.
The inauguration of this project included talks from Bishop Burton College,
Cherry Burton, and One World Hull, as well as sales of Crafts and Food items.

23rd July 2004. A Fairtrade meal at Hitchcock's Restaurant
1 Bishop Lane, Hull.
What a fantastic night. 100 people turned up, and Bruce and Jane laid on a wonderful meal. Lots of folk knew each other and there were lots of folk new to the Fairtrade crowd also turned up.

28-July-2004 Hull University Resolution
Hull University Resolves to become a FAIRTRADE University
Under the leadership of the Director of Finance
the executive of Hull University has passed a resolution
committing the university to increasing the amount of Fairtrade products
made available through shops and catering outlets on the campus.
Watch this space for further news in the autumn as the campaign gets under way.

The City-wide Fairtrade Artwork Competition started with an announcement by Hull City Council.
Hull residents of all ages are invited to submit pieces which must include the Fairtrade label.

6 October 2004. Hull Development Education Centre moves to central Hull
The Development Education Centre Showcase event in Methodist Central Hall marks the move from Coronation Road to Central Methodist Hall.
Speeches are made by leaders of the local churches including Methodists and Anglicans.
Input also is made by Chris Church of One World Shop, Hull, on Fairtrade City Project.

Opening of the John Keene Exhibition of war paintings.

as well as leaflets on the Artwork competition.

Fair Trade Evening for North Hull Churches together included Credo,
S Mary's college play and fashion Show, Fairtrade Food from the Fairtrade Cookbook,
and a talk on Fairtrade City. About 50 people were present.

Tuesday night at the One World Shop - Methodist Central Hall, 19:00 for 19:30. Everybody Welcome. Come and get ideas for an "alternative" Christmas. Fair Trade gifts from around the world, FAIRTRADE Food ideas.
Display and talk about Fair Trade Crafts
with information about the producers.
FAIRTRADE Christmas Food
suggestions and tastings,
FAIRTRADE Fruit Cake, as well as recipes from the FAIRTRADE COOKBOOK.

9th December 2004. Hull and East Riding Credit Union Certificate.
Throughour the year members of Hull and ER Credit Union have been supporting the Fairtrade City Project, and following submission of the application, the Project Steering Group approved the award of a certificate to the Union. The certificate was awarded at their AGM by Chris Church, Manager of the One World Shop and Steering Group Member.
Support from organisations like credit unions, businesses, schools and service organisations is a key component of the application for certification as a Fairtrade City.
