Ringing FOTHERINGAY Delight Minor.
Track the treble
Awareness of the position of the treble is a key skill for most bellringing methods,
and is the major key to ringing FOTHERINGAY Delight Minor.
Some hints and tips for developing the skill are given in the
techniques
section.
Positional Awareness
FOTHERINGAY Delight Minor is highly fluid above the treble, less so below the treble.
Place Notation Elements
The method only contains 6 elements (X, 12, 34, 16, 36, 56).
Place Bells, Pivot Leads, and Handrails
156342 LE 16: Double Court Bob; Sandal Treble Bob, Hull Surprise
1-2:1-2, 1-6, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-2
3-4:3-4, 4-5, 5-2, 2-6, 6-3, 3-4
5-6:6-5, 3-2, 4-6, 5-3, 2-4, 6-5
The pivot bell (2nds pb) leads at the half lead.
For 3-4 pair, the pivot point is when they dodge together in 1-2 at the Half Lead.
For 5-6 pair, the pivot point is when they dodge together in 3-4 at the Half Lead.
Handrails
The long dodging in 1-2 is an obvious handrail.
NB. The places in 1-2 for the 3-4 section cause 2nds place bell to dodge DOWN in the 5-pull.
Awareness of other bells
The method is static below the treble with only the bells that pass the treble in the 2-3 Cross-section joining or leaving 1-2.
The Oxford Places in the 5-6 section are made by a coursing pair.
Coursing Order in FOTHERINGAY Delight Minor
FOTHERINGAY Delight Minor exhibits much natural coursing order, especially in 3-4 under the treble.
If the coursing order is abcde, and a is 2nds Place Bell, b is the pivot bell, c is 6ths Place Bell and dodges with a in 1-2, and d becomes the next 2nds place bell.
Ringing the Method
FOTHERINGAY Delight Minor gives good practice at associating a piece of structure with a piece of Treble work..
