Ringing Tewkesbury Delight Minor.
Track the treble
Awareness of the position of the treble is a key skill for most bellringing methods,
and is the major key to ringing Tintern Delight Minor.
Some hints and tips for developing the skill are given in the
techniques
section.
Positional Awareness
The Carlisle specific work (1-2 section) requires detailed attention, careful learning and good practice.
Tewkesbury Delight could be used as a progress route into ringing Carlisle above.
Place Notation Elements
The method only contains 5 elements: 34X36, 12, 14, 34, 16.
Place Bells, Pivot Leads, and Staging posts
142635 LE 12: St Clement's C.B.; Rochester T.B.; London S.
1-2:1-2, 1-3, 1-5, 1-6, 1-4, 1-2
3-4:3-4, 5-2, 6-3, 4-5, 2-6, 3-4
5-6:6-5, 4-6, 2-4, 3-2, 5-3, 6-5
For 3-4 pair, the pivot point is when they cross over in 4-5 at the Half Lead.
For 5-6 pair, the pivot point is when they cross over in 2-3 at the Half Lead.
Awareness of other bells
Most ringers on encountering Tewkesbury Delight find it quite tricky to ring,
the serious challenges arising from the backward work above the treble.
Coursing Order in Tewkesbury Delight Minor
As the bells transition from the backward hunting above the treble (3-4 section), a complex representation of the coursing order emerges.
5ths place bell is the pivot bell, and its afterbell follows it down and turns round in 3rds.
That afterbell then crosses in 4-5 with the oivot bell's forebell, which then makes thirds and precedes the pivot bell towards lie.
Further aspects of the coursing .order can be developed from the above.
Ringing the Method
We have little experience of ringing this method.
